Text at the Bottom Left
Because repairing defective belts was not as easy as repairing defective chains, conveyor belts were not often used underground. Some of them were used at levels or permanent spots of slopes in some pits.
Text at the Top Left
This picture shows a belt-type conveyor in the Showa era (1926-1989). The frame of this conveyor was made not only of steel but also of wood. The mobile coal loader using the conveyor belt was also used on the surface and the machine was very efficient underground as well. However, it was rarely used except in special pits because of the large expense necessary to introduce it, though many mobile coal loaders were used for coal dressing machines.
