[Inauguration of the Memorial Hall]
20.9 x 30.1 cm Ink Painting
The inauguration of the memorial hall with an east-facing gate and the floor space of about 80 tsubo (264 square meters) was held on a large scale on November 30, 1941. (More than 40 members of the Patriotic Women's Association also attended the ceremony. The name of the association was changed to the Japan Women's Association on March 30, 1942.) There were more than 180 guests from the outside of the pit. The pit was completely equipped with coal washers, winding machines, ventilating fans, drainage pumps, electric cars for transportation, and various facilities. The working faces were also equipped with good tools and machines. It was a refreshing restart of the pit with the great hope of increasing coal production from the very next day as though a dam full of water had broken. The ceremony became a promising and cheerful launching point for the pit to output more coal thereafter.
