Snow is falling quietly.
I opened the screen to find the world turned white.
The tears come to my eyes,
when I imagine how cold the soldiers in Manchuria must feel.
Toko-tottoko-toh! (Onomatopoeia of the sound of a bugle)

Uchi no tonari wa manjuya de.
Shoji hitoe ga hoke darake.
Sazoya manju wa umakaro to,
omoe ba yodare ga sakini deru (tatsu).

My next-door neighbor runs a manju store.
The steam from the manju steamer shadows the single screen of my house.
Saliva begins to fill my mouth,
when I imagine how good the manju tastes.
