After it was pulled out with the sled to the level where the platform was built, coal in the sled was dumped directly into mine cars from the coal sled platform, which was almost as tall as the top of each mine car. Each of these platforms for coal sleds (suradana) had a fit length for two or three helpers to dump their sleds. Therefore, the roofs above them had to be cut away and made higher than other parts of the roofs of the levels. The work to dump mined coal from sleds directly into mine cars was done efficiently with this platform. However, this method could cause a great stasis (o-nagure) of coal conveyance and coal had to be stored at each of the workings when mine-car allotment was thrown into disorder (hako-nagure or umpan kosho).
