Yama no Kome-sodo #4 (Keisatsukan Shutsudo; Maito o Nagete Oiharau)
[Rice Riots at Coal Pits (Yama) #4 (Mobilization of the Police; Miners Throwing Dynamite to Drive off Policemen)]
20.9 x 30.1 cm Ink Painting

The police tried to suppress the rioters by mobilizing all of their members. However, the drunken rioters were inclined to make light of the saber-wearing policemen and they did not disperse. Of course, it was because the police did not suppress the rioters by using violence on them. Moreover, the rioters threw many sticks of dynamite at the policemen after igniting the fuses, which was their usual tactic, and the policemen could not thoughtlessly approach the rioters.

Police Force Chief: Calm down! Break it up!
Ringleader: What! Don't you policemen eat rice? Let them have it, men!
