[The Battle of Tsushima and the Japanese Battleships Which Participated in the Battle: the Mikasa, Shikishima, Asahi, Fuji, Nisshin and Kasuga]
38.0 x 54.0 cm Painting in Watercolors and Ink

Note: I still clearly remember the two white lines on both chimneys of the flagship Mikasa, which was painted in a similar picture displayed as a pictorial in a bookshop in my town at that time.

Text at the Top Right
On May 27, 1905, near Okinoshima Island, the Imperial Japanese Navy intercepted the Russian 2nd and 3rd Pacific Fleets (called the Baltic Fleet in Japan). The fleet admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy was Heihachiro Togo and the admiral of the Russian fleets was Zinovy Rozhestvensky.
("Though the sky is clear, the sea is troubled." [Admiral Togo's telegraphic code])
This battle is famous for the "Z flag" meaning "The destiny of our nation depends upon this action. You are all expected to do your utmost." It was hoisted on the flagship Mikasa's mast on Togo's order.
