Text at the Bottom Left
This painting shows cribbing made of mine timber called kara-kozumi arranged in parallel crosses, and the same cribbing filled with refuse was called mi-kozumi (filled cribbing). The above two kinds of cribbing were also called "karako"' and "miko'' for short respectively.

Text at the Top Left
The karako used in long-wall workings etc. was sometimes moved. Dozens of layers of cribbing were sometimes piled upon the support units under the collapsed and heightened roof of the roadway to support the roof.
